Aunt Claire’s Black (Rum) Cake




Depending on which islander you ask you may hear this cake called “black cake”, “rum cake”, “fruit cake” or “Christmas cake” Whatever you call it this cake is likely the most alcoholic cake you will ever eat. No traditional Caribbean celebration or Christmas  dinner would be complete without a Black Cake or few. Whether it’s served plain or wrapped in a layer of royal icing, this rich, dense fruit filled delicacy is guaranteed to please.

Jamaican black cake

Each one of our handmade cakes are made using a 5 generations old family recipe, passed down from my late Aunt Claire. This traditional Caribbean cake is made with a blend of wine soaked fruits, fresh eggs, butter, brown sugar and other natural ingredients. After baking each cake is cooled and then drizzled with a generous helping of premium white rum.
