To say that Sian has spent her entire life in the kitchen would not be an exaggeration. Having a professional Chef for a father meant countless weekends in the kitchen, trekking to the market or awaiting the fisherman at the seaside. Migrating to the USA at the age of left Sian with a never ending case of homesickness. Refuge was found in using the fruits and veggies grown in her backyard to recreate the recipes found in her mother’s Food & Wine magazines and Betty Crocker cookbooks.
Fast forward to 2008 and Sian’s Cooking came to life. The Harrisburg, PA neighborhood eatery specialized in authentic Caribbean cuisine. An award winning Pineapple Upside- Down Cake at the 2009 PA Farm Show would kick off the next year.Before long Sian was devoting much of her energy to catering and event production.
Over the next several years she would participate in a number of local and regional events. For 7 years she organized and hosted CaribJam a regional Caribbean festival while catering to a diverse mix of private and corporate clients. In 2014 Sian competed on The Food Network show, Cutthroat Kitchen. Her first cookbook Nyammings: 88 Authentic Caribbean Recipes was published August 2014. Sian is a regular contributor to Jamaican Eats magazine. Her column “Cooking with Chef Sian” debuted in the Miami Times 2016. Sian’s recipes have been appeared in, The Jamaica Gleaner, Jamaican Eats Magazine and other publications.
