Since I began contributing to the Miami Times I have found myself turning into quite the social butterfly. Besides cooking and eating my way around Miami I find myself dreaming up ways to keep my readers engaged and interested. Over the past few weeks I have found time to attend more than a few events and even rub elbows with some celebs. There was the opportunity to meet one of the Chefs I admire most, Marcus Samuelsson and the very handsome Taye Diggs and his writing partner Shane W. Evans who along with Journee Smollet presented their children’s book “Chocolate Me” during a Black History Month event.
On Valentine’s weekend there was the Coconut Grove Arts Festival. By the time I left my eyes, ears and tastebuds were completely satiated. Besides sampling tasty treats and chatting up handsome vendors like the ones pictured below. There was wine tasting and cooking demos by celebrity Chefs like Chef Irie, host of the PBS Caribbean series Taste the Islands and Chef to the stars Robert Ingraham, whose catering company ChefRLI boasts a client roster that reads like a NFL lineup. Since then there’s been plenty of cooking and eating and and some socializing too. Look for my next blog post tomorrow for more on my recent foodventures. Check out some pics from the Arts Festival below.
